Football Trial in Cardiff
A free football trial for young athletes interested in studying in the United States through football.
SIS Scholarships will hold a free Football Trial Selection event in Cardiff on October 23rd, 2026, for young football players interested in combining their academic and sporting development in the United States.
The trial forms part of our selection process for two different pathways: the SIS Showcase 2027, aimed at student-athletes interested in university opportunities in the USA, and the High School Program, for younger students interested in completing their secondary education in the United States while continuing to play football.
Depending on the athlete’s age, academic stage and sporting profile, those who meet the relevant criteria may be invited to continue in the corresponding selection process.

What opportunities can the trial lead to?
The Cardiff trial is part of the SIS Scholarships selection process. Depending on their age, academic stage and sporting profile, eligible athletes may continue towards one of the following programmes:
|
For younger student-athletes
High School ProgramA pathway for younger students who want to complete their secondary education in the United States while continuing to play football. |
University pathway
SIS Showcase 2027A university-focused pathway for student-athletes interested in studying and playing football at U.S. universities. |
SIS Football Showcase 2027
The 12th International SIS Showcase is scheduled to take place in Madrid in July 2027. It is designed for selected student-athletes interested in university opportunities in the United States.
The Showcase brings together selected athletes and representatives from U.S. universities, providing an opportunity to explore athletic and academic scholarship opportunities.
Participation in the Cardiff trial is an initial step in the selection process and does not guarantee a place in the Showcase or the award of a scholarship.
High School Program
The High School Program is aimed at younger student-athletes who are interested in completing their secondary education in the United States while continuing their football development.
The Cardiff trial also allows SIS Scholarships to identify athletes who may be suited to this pathway, based on their age, academic stage and sporting profile.
